Embarrassment!

Do you know the story
of Thomas and the mine?
the roof broke, he fell in, because
he’d disobeyed the sign.
His pride thought he knew better,
he shook his driver off
– triumphantly he went right past,
and thought it quite a laugh.
The ground gave way, and down he went,
the rails collapsed, and sagged.
Soon Thomas was remembering,
regretted how he’d nagged,
and ragged old Gordon earlier
reminding of his own
fall into dirty ditchwater
– if only he had known …
‘I am a silly engine’. ‘Yes,
and naughty, you will need
to wait’, the Fat Controller said,
‘by Gordon you’ll be freed’.
Two engines who’d been cocky,
before a silly tumble,
had learnt to listen to advice
and be a bit more humble!
‘Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud’ Proverbs 18:12, in the Bible

Wise message told in this
Wise message told in this little tale within your poem Rhiannon, loved the idea, especially as it's about Thomas the tank engine. I used to sit and watch the programme with my son when he was young.
Enjoyed reading.
Jenny.

I like this a lot Rhiannon,
I like this a lot Rhiannon, not the least because Thomas is loved by many children on the autistic spectrum. My severely disabled cousin age 21 still uses Thomas items. And you have created a good tale too!

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
My grandson is a big Thomas fan. I will read this to him when he next comes, to see if he can remember that particular story.
