Wash Me Away

Do you ever just look at the sea
And want to walk in?
Walk until walking
Turns from walking to floating
And then floating to sinking
Then you're floating sinking in the sea
Moving in the waves
Hair an ecstatic craze
Washing around your face
As your skin gets whiter and your face turns the same colour as the sunset sky
And your clothes push into your body and then into the sea.
The water's cold
The water's harsh
But from up here it seems so soft and gentle
Whispering my name without words
Standing waist deep
I want to go further
I'm numb from the cold now
I'm numb to the cold now
It's time to wash me away.

Enchanting poem. I love
Enchanting poem. I love the progression up to "floating sinking in the sea". I'll have the phrase "floating sinking" ringing in my head today, it has a lovely edgy ring to it.
