The Broad

Spring has the promise of a fifties musical. A chorus of girls bloom into a flower, smiling like mint imperials, curls bounce against necks like silk cushions. Only I feel like the broad who's out of the show, broke and cynical when I see dresses, goblet-blood red, staked through the heart by window dummies, smugly in the latest confetti colours.
