Summer darkness

lives beneath the canopies and the trees

Mixed with splash of sodium and sound

 

Excited swifts

fill the city streets with their calls

Snatching at the evening’s bonanza

 

I blow kisses

to each terraced avenue, as we pass

Pavements lit with sodium and sound

 

Attentive waiters

fill the boulevards with their shouts

Servicing the evening fiesta

Thanks Ed. Walking home with a barra sticking out of my shopping and watching a merciful build-up of rain-cloud, that fits the scene.

I'm glad Ed said Spanish, because I was thinking, that doesn't sound like Bristol. It has all the magic of night time and even in the liveliness a sort of stillness.

:) Oh, Catherine, the years I spent zig-zagging between pubs from Lawrence Hill to Temple Meads. Certainly a different vibe. I wouldn’t turn down a cider outside the Barley Mow, though.
