Memories of this summer

A bush full of gooseberries,
garden runner beans,
outdoor children playing –
happy shouts and screams.

Family come to visit –
listen, laugh and chat;
sorting, cleaning toys galore
while ‘Toddler Group’ is shut.

Lovely country strolling
despite his weary pain –
waiting lists grow slowly shorter –
sunshine’s brighter after rain.

What summer memories Rhiannon family is the most important part of our lives and you capture it so well. Fresh produce from the garden, nothing better.

Thank you, Edward. It  has been an unusual summer, with my husband's troublesome waiting, but it was good to remember the pleasures like this. We have neighbour's children playing out in school holidays, and their friends, and good family visits, plus the rather pressurised toy cleaning for the toddler group! Rhiannon

Like the way you bring your family memories into this poem Rhiannon. Sorry to hear your husband's in pain, I hope he gets better soon. Being able to get out and about can revive even the most ailing problems with all that fresh air.
