The Brexit Trilogy

1 Land of filth and fury
Land of filth and fury
Hater of the free
How shall we extol thee
Who are born of thee?
Closer still and closer
Shall thy bounds be set;
God who named thee Blighty
Now names thee Brexit instead
Dear land of hope where is thy crown
Death stabs your cruel sting
On sov’ran shores the lines are drawn
The Barriers: the offering
Those equal laws of Freedom lost
Once ruled you proud and long
But now it’s coin and fame maintained
The empires bitter cost.
Thy fame was ancient as the days
As ocean, large and wide:
But a pride that simply heeded praise
A false and empty cry
Led this land to wither and to die
So now what have our sires left?
An empty shackled land spent:
A wasted broken son.
2. Jerusalem
And did those feet in ancient time
Smirk upon England’s poverty?
And was the holy lamb of God
On England’s peasant seen?
And did the Constance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded rich?
And was Jerusalem expanded here
Among those dark deluded banks?
bring me my purse o failing coin!
Bring me my whispers that deny!
Bring me my spear, oh dear behold!
Look at my chariot on fire!
I will now cease from mental fight
And now my sword falls from my hand
For we have built shit Brexit here
On England’s green and pleasant land.
3. Rule brexitters
When Britain first, at Heaven’s command
Arose from out that assure main,
This was the charter land,
And Guardian angels sang this strain
Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves!
And Nations not as blessed as thee
Look towards us with such bitter gall
While thou flourished great and free
With fear and envy in them all
Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves!
Yet as thou rose shalt thou must fall
From birth and along to death’s stroke
As loud a blast from a trumpets call
Serves to cut thy root of native oak
Rule Britannia? Brexitta rules the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves?
Thy haughty Tyrants shall ne’er be tamed
In all attempts to bend thee down
And no arise of revolutionary flame
Will quench this Brexit lunacy down
Rule Britannia? Brexitta rules the waves!
Britons never, never, maybe shall be slaves?
To thee belongs the rural reign
The gentry with their commerce shine
All shine shall be the subject main
On borders where encircling is thine
Rule Brexitta, Brexitta rules the waves!
Britons never, well perhaps may might be slaves!
The Muses with their freedom curbed
Shall to thy coasts flee in despair
Vile Isle with evil cruelty crowned
Where bastard hearts keep them there!
Rule Brexitta , Brexitta rules the waves!
Britons now and on forever shall be slaves!

this poem is just awsome. it was a huge political gamble to offer a referandum on a such a complex issue. what a waste of money and time.
