The Tale of the Clutterbug and the Minimalist
By Rhiannonw
- 1953 reads
Clutter propagates,
from stuffed drawers
emerges,
submerges
cluttering, fettering –
distractions to work and thought:
sentimental?
detrimental?
“but where is that thing that I kept just in case
it may become useful one day?
it’s just what I want, it’s just what I need,
oh, where did I stash it away?”

Minimalist
isolationist
sight and mind clear
uncluttered thinking,
unstimulated?
little linking
to the past,
unreminded
unwarned;
“Remember that thing that I felt deep inside
maybe could be useful one day –
now it’s just what I want, it’s just what I need,
oh, why did I throw it away?”

My sentiments exactly
My sentiments exactly Rhiannon, it's so typical that the moment I get rid of something I need it.
A poem I can very much relate to.

My grandad had a saying,
My grandad had a saying, 'Everything has a use, if it's only once in seven years'. My grandmother banished him and his sayings, and his stuff, to the shed!

I wish I could be uncluttered
I wish I could be uncluttered. But I can't . For all the reasons in your poem plus the memories 'stuff' holds. My husband despairs! Nice take on the theme Rhiannon.
