Jogging in the park

Gently
A few circuits of the local park
Walk and run, walk and run
These bones are not so young
Parachuting to the ground
To lie among many others like it
All of them still and lifeless in the mud
Parks and forests
Towns and cities
All the same
The muddy earth that bore us
Is our resting place, too

A thoughtful poem whether
A thoughtful poem whether walking or running. We get to consider so much more than when driving in a car.

Very philosophical. I love running in the park or forest for that reason. It’s a philosophical activity. Time to think.

Towns and cities, that line
Towns and cities, that line stands out the most for me in a strong poem. Grenfell Tower has replaced Big Ben as the London icon but from Hell. And then new buildings can grow up stage by stage on ruined sites, mushrooms and ferns can grow around a huge fallen oak and the new growth of the next generation issues forward.
'Walk and run' in the park, well done you. I walk along the seafront. Windy today but that autumn blaze of light...
