More Words

I do not speak

just to have words

tumble

from my lips

 

like the Falls of Niagara

splash and foam

as tourists duck mist

from the deck

of a sight-seeing boat.

 

And more words

remind me of this land

of Canada -- its

coniferous forests

mines that spawned wealth

and

prairie grain feeding

so many.

 

Best of all words compete

to repeat over

and over—

I love you so much

my lady.

The Bible book of Proverbs has so much about using words, doesn't it? Empty gabbling (like your Niagra falls illustration), words that hurt unnecessarily, words that are healing (like your productive land illustration) and gentle. eg 'A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.' Rhiannon
