They all rolled over
The dog baby is nine
not an infant in dog
years
she does things human
babies do
she understands everything
her speech is a sing song copy of human
she has perfect
cadence.
Its just the consonants her mouth wont do them
“Yes I have missed you”
“I do want to go out for a walk yes yes yes”
“hello hello you have been away for lots of sleeps”
Crossing a driveway I said we needed to look for cars
she carefully looked
right
and left
She steals socks and purloins pants
halfway to helpful
she brings them down , guards them,
or gives them to guests.
The last step “into the basket” doesn't quite happen
why should it when she has something to trade
and a triumphant expression
At night she sleeps on my bed “cuddled up”
a small furry back against mine
Sometimes I find myself clinging to the edge of the bed
because she has shoved
and I rolled over

This is such a charming
This is such a charming tribute to dogs and their childish, eager to please characters. Where would we be without our furry friends, they give so much without all the heavy stuff which humans emit.

There never used to be the option to put pictures on, and a poem like this does stand alone and is visual in its words. I enjoy putting pictures on, but I agree it's something once you've done it with someone it's quite easy, but verbal instructions are difficult especially as we use our computers in different ways. I can only use my own photos or clipart creations I've often played about with. I upload from from files in windows explorers, but that may not be the way you use your computer/ipad. Rhiannon

I like this appreciation of
I like this appreciation of the uncomplicated but intense feelings of dogs.
Also sympathise with not being able to upload pictures. My partner is doing an OU computing degree but I dread asking for help because of the sighs :0)
