Housebound
Last summer catching the top step
left her floundering
flat
on the floor unable to move
shoulder and arm in
several
pieces
All they do is put your arm in a sling and tell you
to sleep sitting up
and heres some pain killers that make you sick
so now just as fitness was ramping up
shes in the chair again
because risking an ice slip is unthinkable
only necessary journeys are made
very very
carefully
trying to avoid being Pingu
Oddly time at home doesnt become
a vital urge to sort out shelves
Boredom becomes its own ropes
Gulliver doesnt bother to tear off tiny bonds
inertia is easier
it pretends to be patience
skipping school is only fun when there is school to skip
Note to self
volunteer to be a phone buddy for someone who never goes out

Being suddenly housebound
Being suddenly housebound when you're not ill can be quite a shock, as routine has suddenly gone. That last line is quite thought-provoking. And, I guess being stuck in makes you realise that there are probably many around who would love a visitor even when the weather is good. Rhiannon

I hope your snow will
I hope your snow will disappear soon Camilla. I am also stuck here and it's driving me bananas, but I'm painting the insides of cupboards, and windows which is quite soothing and stops me from thinking about the fact that the heating oil is really low

It is like you are suffering
It is like you are suffering from lack of oxygen, isn't it? Being stuck in the house, the frustration, somehow the best thing seems to be to shut down. Post meno pause I feel like Humpty Dumpty just thinking about climbing over a wall :0)
