The balcony window invites the air
The sun has one foot in, one foot out
It’s the middle of the afternoon
I can’t hear the golondrinas for the traffic
A pile of books tells of some once great plan
The guitar lies, strings uppermost, neck on the sofa’s arm
Peace is hidden somewhere in this scene
But war is never far away
****
golondrina = swallow (bird)
golondrino = boil under the armpit
