Mysterious Lichens

Fluffy tassels smoky-green,
hanging – when the air is clean –
decorating upland trees,
waving gently in the breeze.
Crusty patches on town wall,
do not seem to grow at all,
but they do – when not too much
car exhaust, and other-such.
All, – mysterious symbiosis
of an alga and a fungus.
Some are useful in the synthesis
of antibiotics, sunscreen cream.
Little things, so unpretentious, –
not so simple as they seem!

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Another lovely poem, with an educational bonus. I liked the way you manged to get so many big words into such a short space, and still keep the rhythym and rhyme.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
the titile of this poem caught my eye straight away and I enjoyed reading. You gave them beautiful descriptions as they are so misjudged, like in the first stanza. Loved the idea of the fluffy tassels smokey green, hanging - when the air is clean - decorating upland trees, waving gently in the breeze.
Nice one and thank you for sharing.
Jenny.
