Empty Page
Empty, expectant, quivering
With blank expression
The page lay shivering.
Harbinger, messenger.
Lover’s cooing call,
Or summons to battle
The pen could name them all.
What would the page be bearing?
Framed with gold,
Lauded forever
Or in anger purged by fire?
Truths born in heaven
Or false promises
Spawned by the eternal liar?
The page waits for the quill.
For you and me to essay
.....It’s waiting still.

Ah, the tyranny of the empty
Ah, the tyranny of the empty page!
Looks like you filled this one nicely, though.

Always a challenge to think
Always a challenge to think before putting pen to paper! So used to composing on computer where changing is so easy, that when writing on paper, notes and crossings out soon look such a mess, but then when the best bits are circled, – find a new nice piece of paper, and hopefully write something worthy!
