Snowflakes sky-high
in drifts of white furrows
shuffle across
pastures once green
with envy. Corn stalks
higher than a kite
absorbed rain and windy
highlights. Sacrifice
dignity and crawl through
piles of crystals
cold as soup
left long in the kitchen
and I do complete
my journey from a stalled
car. Winter’s smudge
no longer beneath
my feet as I lean towards
a breathing fireplace
warm against my frame.

Very much enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
