Sardines

It was a fancy-dress party.
Paul dressed as Sherlock,
I went as Moriarty
but my wife had a shock:
she saw three other
Marie Antoinette, wearing
powdered wigs and crinolines,
and - of course - panicked.
We danced and frolicked
then played a game of sardines;
Interest for this was aplenty.
To start with, one person hid
but soon it reached twenty.
It was a tight squeeze
in the cupboard under the stairs;
nobody dared to sneeze,
friends and strangers hugged
without turning a hair
and a good time was had by all.
Exchanging phone numbers
we kissed - Muah! Muah! -
said our goodbyes
and asked them to give us a call.

Ha, ha! I could just picture
Ha, ha! I could just picture the scene,
all those bodies squeezed together.
Enjoyed your poem Luigi.
