Cabin

You were right
In that cabin all those years ago
There is no easy route
You have to live it
Six notes to say it all
You showed me once
Remember?
Six notes, many voices
Many stories
All the time we need
There’s a river running through them
Wide and deep
I stand and watch awhile
Remembering
And lose myself

I asked my love
I asked my love to take a walk just a little walk, down where the waters flow, down by the banks of the old Iho. Do you know the song Parson? Your poem also reminds me of "Diep Rivier" of Eugene Marais.
Your poem's tragic end is masterly.
Go well! Hamba ghachle!

Diep Rivier
Hi Parson!
Jacques did an excellent direct translation of “Diep Rivier”,

~
My own translation is much more free, loose. It is more recent,

~
Both were done quite long ago and they are two very different approaches.
Indeed, maybe all songs of a deep river are the same ...
