Of course, it's not even blossom time yet is it, and the leaves are later. It still sounds a pleasant place to read! Do the flowers give some shade when it blossoms? – a scattering of petals may fall anyway! Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon. I actually missed the best of the blossom when I first went the week before last. Been and gone. You can still see the flowers but they're dull. No leaves yet. I sat under the sparse shade of the branches yesterday and had to rotate around the trunk to stay out of the sun. It's a grove, so there's the aggregated shade of the canopy, but not around lunchtime. The blossom everyone talks about here is in a valley in Extremadura. Cherries. Fabled. Jerte valley, maybe.

I'd forgotten things are earlier there, though actually a lot of our blossom is coming early this year. The magnolia in our lane has been in full bloom for a week or two and hasn't been spoiled by a late frost. Rhiannon

Maybe Siddhartha Gautama was on a package hoiliday when he had his "moment" ;)

I've heard a lot about the Almond blossom on the peninsula, but there aren't any in the Canaries. The Mulberries were pretty amazing at around this time though.

Hi Ed. Another one on my list. Each place has its own beauty. Just bought Greene's "The Power And The Glory" from a local secondhand bookshop I've just discovered. On the back cover it says "Not to be introduced into the British Empire or the U.S.A." Seems a good buy at this interesting moment in history.
