When First Snow
By Richard L. Provencher

falls--
the forest-world pauses
balanced between
Autumn and Winter
as flurries appear
in waves of filtered white
their chilly facade
teasing the landscape
seeking shelter in every crevice--
coming on and on
pursuing space upon the land
a reminder of turbulence
and onslaught from future
winter storms--
but right now
there is only peace
settled in pride
a blanket of serenity
in a valley of purity.

I really enjoyed this poem
I really enjoyed this poem Richard, it gave memory to my favourite time of year, that time when the earth is preparing to rest. You really bought the landscape to life. Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.

"coming on and on
"coming on and on

we don't get the kind of snow you have in Canada, but last year was bad by our standards, and these lines reminded me of how it felt, expressed perfectly when the snow wouldn't stop and became scary
