The Ocean

is a feral roaring
cascade of movement
in a waterfall night
foaming crests climbing
higher and higher
then thrusting
forward in a frenzy
on unclaimed land
as a surging mountain
of sand and pebbles
ping and crush upon
a shoreline that shrinks
each rise of natural tide.
