FIZZY HYPE

It ain’t what it’s cracked up to be,
Champagne;
It bigs you up; but drink too much -
It brings you down again.
It makes you laugh as bubbles burst
And sparkle in your eye
But pretty soon you just don’t know
If you want to laugh or cry.
You laugh at jokes, and knock it back;
Call for another bottle
When from the corner of your eye
you spot the bloke you want to throttle.
You slurp another, march right up
Your head is in a muddle
Take a swing, and drop your glass -
Then slip over in the puddle.
Later on, in hospital
Head aching, leg in plaster
Time to think and ponder on
What caused such a disaster.
With aching head, lying on the bed
You sigh; for now you see
You’re living proof, its actual truth –
Fizz is not what it’s cracked up to be!

As fizzy as the champagne,
As fizzy as the champagne, and without the disastrous consequences! Very much enjoyed reading it.

You are quite right, Linda.
You are quite right, Linda. Those bubbles only mean troubles. Nice poem and good rhymes too.
