A young lad, decided he wanted to do his bit for the building fund, this was using his own initiative, he wanted people to guess how many sweets were in the jar and tubs.
In total there were three lots, and to make it easier, there was only one numbers for each jar, when a number was chosen you were to write your name and numbers down. To have a go it was a pound.
Now that I was a, ‘believer,’ I decided to have a go and guess how many sweets in each jar and tubs, I am rubbish at guessing the amounts of things like this and in my life have never won, doing it.
For each jar and the two tubs, I guessed my numbers and wrote them down on the three different forms, paying my three pounds in total.
It went on for two weeks and at our place of worship, people were reminded of the sweets guessing, for the building fund.
On the third week, in a packed room, the three winners were announced, the first person to guess the amount of sweets correctly was myself! I was chuffed to bits; I went up and collected my jar of sweets.
I gave my sweets away a few days later as there was far too many for me to eat, the young lad had raised a lot of money for the building fund, and me, I’d given my first three pounds towards the building fund.
