forgive

I don’t forgive you.
My god, I have tried.
I have thought I had.
But, I don’t.
It doesn’t matter if
you deserve it. It doesn’t
matter if one day you’ll
be gone.
Because what you did
won’t go with you.
I can’t forget it.
I can barely remember it.
As if that would be
your freedom.
it isn’t mine.
It isn’t mine.
I cannot trust,
I cannot believe,
I cannot care,
I cannot let things matter.
They break,
and they leave
and I am left with
shattered pieces.
All I know is the
reflection of part of
me in the shards you
have left behind.
And you don’t ask;
you just expect it.
You don’t respect it
when I don’t want to talk.
You walk all over me,
You walk all over her,
You walk all over us,
And we cower.
Well, I will not forgive you.
That is my power.

So passionate and visceral,
So passionate and visceral, it makes you gasp. A brilliant evocation of pain, and the last two lines are magnificent.

Lovely. Beautifully captured
Lovely. Beautifully captured portrait of abuse and its scars. Those last lines finish it on a strong note.

This really resonated with me
This really resonated with me. An important thing to say, I think, amongst the messages that everything will be ok if we forgive things that have harmed us.
