Future Life And The Adam Theory

The dark cloak of night threw itself across the sky as I sat on the rooftop watching the missiles that flew overhead . There was nothing anyone could do now . The war had begun .
All efforts for a peaceful solution had been pushed aside .

I tried to look back at a picture of how it once was for me .

A home of my own surrounded by my beautiful wife and children .
In the grounds and gardens I remembered the plants and trees I planted with my own hands I thought about the hutches I had built for the guinea pigs
And rabbits . I remembered building the bird aviaries and thought of the first eggs that hatched and how proud I was to see the young birds grow .

Deep down I was concerned about the future but didn’t want to show that in front of the kids .
I climbed down from the rooftop and with a big smile I said
“Lets go everyone it’s time to get into the bunker “.

My family all stood with their blankets and pillows ready to go
underground into Noahs Den , the steel bunker I had built for my family and myself .

The neighbours had called me the mad scientist .
For years I had tried to warn them about the invisible nerve gases and chemical warfare on our doorstep .

Anyway that all seems so distant now that time was slowly running out .

I sealed the hatch to the first roof of Noahs Den , and one by one we went down the ladder to the second floor of Noahs Den .
I opened up the steel lined second section of the bunker and as I watched my family enter the shower area I asked myself a series of questions .

In as much as we were some of the lucky ones who might escape this first assault of the chemical gases , were we actually going to be the lucky ones to survive this first and maybe last new kind of warfare on the planet .
How would the world be after the attack ?.
If people did survive this deadly nerve and chemical gas warfare would people still be sane or would the worlds population be transformed into some kind of mindless zombie like creatures ?
Would the wild beasts survive and would they become the new rulers of the planet ?

Would the cities and towns become wastelands ?

Would the forests and jungles be completely destroyed .
Would the sky be blotted out ?
My eldest son spoke aloud and shook me from my deep thoughts .
“ Dad . Where is the light switch “
“ Oh I’ll have to start up the generator “
For the next half hour I was busy setting up the bedroom lights in the bunker .
Then it was time to get dinner .
I thought it would be a good idea to keep our spirits up and so after dinner we all had to entertain one another with a song a dance or a story .
Everyone was so tired at the end of the performance that we fell asleep without any bother .

When I awoke I switched on the TV and radio but severe interference overrun every channel and there was no broadcast audible or visual anywhere .

From inside the sealed bunker I launched my test pod that contained a small camera with a heat sensor and a new invention of mine called the Life
Probe
Above the bunker special forces walked around in strange space suits .
This new shape of suit I had never seen before .
In their hands they held new weapons .
Some of these rode scooters that hovered above the ground others seemed to have hovercraft like boots that kept them off the ground .

They hovered around checked every house and building .
Through the cameras eye I watched the screen below in the bunker.
I wondered if the people I saw where on our side .
I wondered if the majority of the planet was in ruins .
I wondered if the Government had put into operation the Adam theory .

The Government had told me years ago about the project but I was unable to tell anybody about it .

Similar underground shelters called Noah’s arks had been built in various towns all over the country .
These family bunkers could to accommodate people for twenty or thirty years
The Adam theory was to bombard the entire planet with acid bombs and plasma missiles in the hope to eradicate the harmful gases and chemicals
That might inhabit life and be part of the planets atmosphere .

This Adams Theory was meant to begin a new future for mankind’s
And hopefully we would try and start again a new civilization .
This theory had never been tested but now we were part of the plan

All I could do now was hope that it would work.

We were some of the survivors chosen by the Adam Council to be responsible for the regrowth of the species .
Time had run out for a peaceful solution on the Earth .
Now my family and I had all the time in the world inside a time lock on
Noahs Den , The final seal would open in about twenty years from now .
In the bunker my computer screen shut down as a blinding light came into view .My mobile phone rang and I knew the Adam Theory had begun .
I answer the phone call
“ So what’s happening ?”
The reply was anxious ,
“ We have begun the bombardment President Sir “
“ I must now ask you to comply with section 3 of the Adam Theory ”
“ Yes sir “
I took a deep breath and said ,
”At this stage I won’t be coming with you .God have mercy on your soul “
“Have you any other commands for us Sir ?:”
“No” Was my reply .

For a long time I searched for something no one could give me,
which was my peace of mind .

All my questions looked for answers .
I was surrounded by my wife and children .
“So then , Dad what are we going to do for the next twenty years ?
I smiled and said ,
“Well did I ever tell you the story about the time I went to war with a mindless dictator ?
“ Oh no not that one again”
Said my wife who continued .
“What are we going to cook for dinner today ?”
My head felt like it wanted to fall off and my body felt tired and heavy .
My nerves were numb from any feeling .
I replied ,
" Whatever I make is sure to taste
better than last night ."
