New life for a hot-water bottle cover!

My face is not appealing,
my tummy is concealing
a heart that can be hot
to cheer a chilly spot.
But now I’ve lost my purpose,
I’m limp and lying useless
on this shop’s shelf I sag –
just an ugly doggy rag.
For 75p she bought me,
she’s tearing sheets to stuff me,
now sitting plumply in a bag –
no listless flabby rag.
It’s Christmas Eve, I’m taken
out of the bag, and shaken:
‘You’re ugly, but you’re wonderful,
you’re fun to talk to, special!’
And now I know my place –
this lady feels of use
in cheering and befriending me
– I still bring warmth you see!!

What a lovely warm poem
What a lovely warm poem Rhiannon.
I love how the little stuffed dog brings a smile to the face of the lady in the photo.
I also could feel it in your poem too.
Thank you for sharing, put a smile on my face.
Jenny.
