To my Best Friend...(Frankie)

It’s the eyes that capture my heart
Chocolate brown and soulful
Beaming unconditional love
And sending sunshine into my day
No matter what the weather truly is
He sits by my side
A warm and furry blanket
His joyful tail wagging
Beating rhythmically
Against the couch
His kisses fairly slobber
But I couldn’t care less
He is my best friend
And he knows my
Heart is his
That this connection
Cannot last my lifetime
Is unfair
Too short the years
He’ll bless my life
Too short
The days we’ll share
The ending
Not far away
My friend is waning
Cancer
Has crept silently
And quickly
And I
Can only try
To make the days
We have left
As joyful for him
As all the sunny days
He’s given me

What an adorable poem Penny,
What an adorable poem Penny, you've captured his essence perfectly. I'm so sorry to read Frankie has cancer, this must be an awfully sad time for you, but your poem is a great tribute to such a wonderful friend and I'm sure he knows how much you care.
Take care.

What an absolutely beautiful poem (and dog!). I'm so sorry to hear the time you have left together is short, but as you say in the last few lines, you're doing exactly what you should be doing. xx
