I remember it like

It was yesterday,

When cold steal

Washed my troubles away,

 

I felt them flow

Like a waterfall,

Out of my body

And onto a shawl,

 

It engaged with my skin

Like it was at home,

My problems within

Origin, unknown.

 

I later found out

That I had a condition,

To keep it a secret

Was my only mission.

 

The blade sliced through me

On many occasions,

From my emotions

Causing separation,

 

Nothing in the world

Felt like the first time,

Replication tried,

My life on the line!

 

Like everything else,

The end is near,

I’ve abstained for

Now over five years.

 

I’m proud of myself

For what I’ve achieved,

Ten years ago news

Like this, not believed.

 

I say to all,

Out there on their own,

Cutting is serious!

But you’re not alone!

yes it was hard but with the proper help im almost 5 years free of it right now and ive never felt better.

A poem of sincerity. It must have been such an agonizing time. I admire you for coming through this period and being able to write about it, so that others will know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, but the more people who come forward, whether to a family member or friend, will get that light bright quicker than battling it on their own. no one is alone in this! there is support is out there, you just have to ask.
