Promises.

Today was quite a long stressful day at work, and just before home time my Manager said to us, “All I want now would be to have an ice-cold beer.” I piped up, “All I want is fish n chips at Wetherspoons with their refillable hot drinks or Pepsi, but before that I’d want a Quarter pounder with hot chocolate and fries just out the pan, but our twenty four hour one, has no proper queues, they might need to set that up, when they reopen.” I went on, “I intend to have one lot to eat in and another lot to take home!”
Sian, said, “All I want is my hair done, my roots is a mess and I need a good trim.” Toni said, “I want my nails redoing,” For a brief moment there was silence and we had our own thoughts and I said to Andy, “Why ‘don’t you just buy your beer from Tesco?” He replied, “It’s not the same, I love the smell of the pub, and I nodded and said, “The atmosphere.” I said, “That’s exactly why I love Wetherspoons, sitting in the seat, knowing what I want to eat, I never tire of fish n chips, the salt and vinegar the tomato ketchup, it’s like I’m eating it for the first time!” Again, for a second, we fell silent, then Jakkie said, “I just want to go clothes shopping,” I could really relate to that! I don’t do any internet shopping at all, and with Mother’s Day, I was given vouchers for my favourite shop and money but unable to go and spend it there.
Yet with everything we mentioned, we still came back to food. For Tony B said, “All I want is a curry,” Andy said, “I LOVE their curries, at Wetherspoons, there is one very near where I live.” I said, “When they reopen, it will be very full, we might not get in.” Cynthia had been quite all that time, suddenly said, “I REALLY want a KFC, a Zinger burger, I could just eat one right now.” Then we all started talking about our favourite KFC meal.
We were all hungry now, and between us all, the meeting now ended on a high, and we promised, ourselves what we’d eat out, when it was all over.

I've had so many
I've had so many conversations like this, Grace! The - what used to be - ordinary things we'll do When It's All Over. And you're right - it always seems to come back to food!
