Agnostic faith

I veer often one way or the other
Often
Between faith and reason 

For did the angry God of Abraham 
Make men in his image ? 
Or is God but a fleeting dream of men  long dead in ages past 

The enlightenment of science drives out the old world 
The enlightenment of the east points men to a deep a unity 
But leaves my mind puzzled 

Political will calls on the might of the God of Abraham 
To free us from such troubles 

Two thousand years make these words an empty projection of simpler times when the world was measured 
Old time religion hold no truth and shines no light on things beyond its comprehension 
A chasm between two worlds of tablets , stone and data have no parallel 

As appealing as drinking poison
As a feudal lord commands it
And then withdraws it as a jest
A play with fools he claims
He is the fool is plain to see 

He jests with lives
He binds his people 
As once did Issac 
For blind faith kills 
As surely as in Jonestown   

A demigod 
Rapped in a pageant
Of the damed
What caused them to retain blind faith ? 
They call it the echo chamber 
It seems even an echo would have effect 
But I feel none only powerless 
That's all I feel
While witnessing the fool play with 
Folly
If this is the will of God
I would be proud to be an atheist 
But he is no God 
Or voice of God
Just a foolish rich old man 
I hope his time soon comes  

Any child can see the emperor has no  clothes
Even as he is mocked he retains power making a mockery of all that progress has made dear 

What God is this
A vain old fool
A fake wisdom 
Which causes madness 
Hopelessness and cruelty 

When highest hope is needed
A ship of fools with tin pot leaders 
Cry out in all directions

Science is truth
But holds no comfort 
Only uncertainty 
It tells us that the world it's self in its very bones is uncertain 

As am I uncertain 
seek to find faith   
Not in the God of abraham 
Hopefully in sometime better 
But this is why I am agnostic
As in all truth I am uncertain
