When you jog
down memory lane
you are bound to recognise
many milestones,
some with exhilaration,
some with pain.
down memory lane
you are bound to recognise
many milestones,
some with exhilaration,
some with pain.
You might recall
yourself as a toddler
tentatively taking the first step
on wobbly legs;
the first four-letter word
that you uttered,
which was to generate
so much debate.
I distinctly heard ‘ma-ma’.
Oh no, it was definitely ‘da-da’.

And how can you forget
the first time that you let a kiss
passionately brush your lips
yet fending off the hands
lingering on your hips,
your cheeks turning red
while losing the thread
of what was said.

Or that juncture
in your life when you decided
to try a new trick
and went for acupuncture
with great expectations
instead of which you felt
only a small prick
and ended up resembling
a pin cushion.

There is always
a first time for everything
but it is easier to recollect
the events which make
a big impression.

Meaningful poem Luigi. All those significant moments are what makes our lives interesting. To look back and say, "I lived a full life and came through to tell the tale." Now that's what I call greatness.
