The Case Of The Disappearing Sock

Miss Marple and Sherlock
to solve the eternal mystery
of the disappearing sock.
I talk of it in the singular
as I have its twin brother.
It won’t be much use to me
if I haven’t got the other.
Maybe I could compromise
and wear an unmatched pair
but they’d look ridiculous
and everyone would stare.
I watch the rinse and spin
with my eyes transfixed:
I want to find out why
my socks are so jinxed.
The drum revolves at speed
and all I can see is suds.
I am a bit apprehensive
as I also hear some thuds.
And when the machine stops
I know what I shall face:
the sought-after item
has vanished without trace.

Jokes aside it can be a serious problem Luigi but no jokes it helps to do your own washing. As you say, one-one can be terribly frustrating odd pairs. Very good poem by the way.
Good night! Tom

Made me smile. Particularly
Made me smile. Particularly at imagining Poirot's disdain at being asked to solve the mystery of a missing sock. I don't think he would stoop to take the case, Luigi. I wonder where they do go...Enjoyed. Rachel x

It's even worse for little
It's even worse for little children's socks! But there is a craze for odd socks and you can buy 'odd pairs' now I think. But there are some odd ones that seem to match alright, and some that remain just very odd! Rhiannon

Loved this Luigi -
I had a period of years -all same socks, loads, same brand, and colour. Black. Easy life -bit boring -but stress free - socks can be very worrisome, i can't wear odd ones if they feel different! *shivers*- it all starts with the socks! Super sock poem x:-)

Oh those washing machine sock monsters, I know them well, I have a hope drawer filled with the other half of lost socks and I know I should toss them but I cannot give up hope that that mmonster will burp and throw them back one day!

Wonderful stuff, Luigi! I do
Wonderful stuff, Luigi! I do sometimes wonder where the sock-eating monsters come from. Do they come with each house, or each washing machine, or are you allocated one at birth that just follows you around?
Greatly enjoyed this.

supernatural
This is apparantly so universal I fear for the supernatural .. . .. a ghost in the machine .. . ..
