remembering dandelions (again)

Prisoned between tarmac bars
of road and footpath
herbicide subdued Earth waits
sure of the last laugh
when only the toughest are
still around to see
despair repaired, there’s hope yet
in growth bursting free
with bright, glorious blazes
of dandelions'
brave yellow in Spring's smiling
seed-sown defiance -
trusting life, sunshine rises
from cool pale pillar stems
all bumblebee beguiling
on land God reclaims

You know I love the blaze of
You know I love the blaze of the dandelions!
Though yesterday I did feel a bit of sympathy to those using herbicides to try to keep their yards clear, as I knelt putlling weeds up from between the concrete slabs! I suppose a hoe is easier, but I don't like the feel of it scraping.
And when you see the dandelions or thistles pushing up the tarmac into a volcano shape, you realise the damage they can do. But, no I don't like the use of chemicals if possible , and probably overuse is most of the problem. Rhiannon

a ray of hope for our
a ray of hope for our deprived earth, dandelions, lions in the plantlife, full of vigour, perseverance and with "lion's teeth", therefore the name, a reference to the tooth-like serrations on their leaves...they will still be there after we are gone, I guess...
lovely poem!
