Shadows Of The Past

Shadows creep where deep
and lonely nights are housed,
only wind breathes through
cracks searching inky darkness,
every creak expands imagination
exhaling with trembling confusion,
clear scent of jasmine filling nostrils
soon fading on drifts of sweeping time,
focus balance accompanied by level head
embedded in reality, and know that mystery
emanates then withers in the dwelling that
many souls have passed away as memories stir,
once this large mansion now abandoned
to creeping spiders on cobweb walls,
previously carved ornate staircase...now
burdened with crumbling stucco falls.
When moon was once high
great parties here were held,
filled with much camaraderie
echoing voices of bygone years,
warmth of open fires formerly glowed
filled atmosphere with friendly welcome,
energies of long ago gave significance
when encountering ghostly spectres,
now my instincts tell me I shouldn't be afraid
of silhouettes and crinoline figures hovering,
they only wish to welcome across span of time
for we are all connected by threads continuing on.

Crinoline figures
"Crinoline figures hovering" I'm not sure what these are but I like it!

Love the crinoline too and
Love the crinoline too and the connecting threads in this. This has hints of haunting, yet also reassuring. :)
