A Message from the Prime Minister

I mis-spoke,
allowed an inconvenient truth
to escape my lips.
Your yawn in my face
angered me so.
I forgot the next lie,
lost my place on the page
and told an old untruth,
one I wished were true
- of course I did.
No-one has wished
for more beggars' horses
than I.
You must believe me
and in my good intentions:
ignore the fingerposts
along the road,
fifth columnists paint over
‘Sunlit Uplands’ with ‘Hell’.
Trust in me,
trust in me.
We must work together,
to tame the beast,
to fight the good fight:
no-one is more sorry
that we have not already won.
lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
The half-drowned ox
shat over the lazy dog.
We will hold this place
with metaphor and bluster
and I will read the speeches
come what may.

After yesterdays live coverage, I feel as if he expects us to dwell in Gaslit Uplands.
