Burglars beware!

A burglar should keep away
from homes where children roam and play,
for in the dark what danger lies
to give a sudden shock, surprise!
Lurking littering cars can trip
under feet that creep, and slip;
somewhere then a toy lights, rings –
and ‘Old Macdonald’s farm …’ it sings!
Piles of bricks by touch will scatter
making such a clanging clatter,
banana skins, or supper’s droppings,
even tired mother’s shopping.
So bungling burglar be aware
that dangerous obstacles lie there
– and even tidy houses may
have hidden pitfalls in your way!

There is a whole other meaning of mine field, remember trying to tidy my son's floor and he kept saying, "No, that's mine!" and putting everything back again!
I liked your second verse very much, particularly "lurking littering"

What a great idea for the I P Rhiannon.
Some great examples of caution written here in your poem. I realize now having creaky floor boards in our house isn't such a bad thing after all.
