Escape To Freedom

Like a ghost she came in feathery dream,
hearing; encouraged by hint of rhythm
as voice with clear, calm and softly
rounded notes resounded,
swirl of billowing white silk floating,
fragrant honeyed vision she sings
like smooth butter off knife, my
liquid emotions unbelievable flow.
Sober moon hangs as I inhale
half awake at pause of daybreak,
stretching – revealing warm flesh
unaware the natural order of sleep.
Awake at twilight did I bring thoughts to
flourish in darkness? Anticipate adoring
moments swathed in mantle of style?
Instead I stand in prisoner's rancid tatters,
the glistening chains bursting through
cracks that shackle me, splitting like
break of threads that don't bear up,
bringing elation at my escape...yet lost,
so occupied was I with releasing instincts,
barely understanding serenity that's called
freedom; while exploring found harmony,
surviving in bushes; swiftly devoured by trees.
