White-washed cottage
slate roof
facing always the blue bay
and far cliffs.

Sometimes ocean calm
soothing sound of many waters,
breezy balm;

sometimes grey and wild storm shake
crashing roar
of waves that break
in tumult on the rocky shore.

You took me down to the sea with this poem Rhiannon, it's so long since I've been. Summing up the view from the cottage in that lovely painting. Enjoyable read.

Thank you, Jenny. Glad you enjoyed. I have the painitng in the bedroom, and it reminds me of so many lovely holidays, both in my childhood and recently that we spent in north Pembrokeshire. I was lying down recently a bit unwell, and looking at the paintng, and thought to try to write down something about it! Rhiannon

I'm so sorry to read you are unwell Rhiannon, and I do hope that changes for the better very soon. I wouldn't have guessed from this poem though, which is vibrant and strong as you, the cottage rooted in the landscape with "always" and the evocation of the world's multitude of jostling waves in "many waters" , and then the passion of the last stanza. All from that small stillness of an image on your wall, like a keyhole

As Insert and Jenny say, you took me right there, thankyou! I hope you can go there again. My Dad took me to St David's once and it was wonderful

Thank you, Di. As I told Insert, it's up and down. I hope we can go again to the coastal path, Di, but this painting always gives me the feel of the place. The sound of quiet many waters, and the sound of stormy waves are both things I enjoy (thought I've never been out in a really wild storm, when I experct I would be very glad to return!). I remember saying to one of my sons that we could take photos, but not photogrrapsh the wonderful sound!

You have encapsulated the calm of the bay and also what it can be like in stormy conditions. Lovely painting too. There are many lovely places in Pembrokeshire! Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, HIlary. I think she is/was a littleacclaimed local artist, but it and a few little other ones I bought in her shop have been lovely souveneirs of holidays down there. Rhiannon
