Quark And Curiousness Of The Mind

This is a poem about how the brain can stimulate images and words, creating dreams of the imagination.

 
It was Inspired while listening to Hawkwind.
 
 
Noiseless: unearthly dreams stir me, 
in the blink of an eye they reach through
blanketed darkness,
 
dense eyes lighting up ideas in respected night;
mind rambling soon to welcome a spark,
but for now moon and stars bathe clearly into
tomorrow's undiscovered cosmic conversations,
 
foraging through bracken of rustling senses,
should time quietly trickle,
fragments; weak though they may be,
flimsy; mysteriously quivering like bees
catching pollen from deep inside a flower, to be released,
 
perhaps nature reminisces;
reaching out in flight,
searching  new pastures;
as I with a symphony of memories
seek curious - blurred past, 
 
many hollow details falling through crevasses
deep never to surface;
it needles me - this pin pricking of time,
when I wanted answers;
but there would be many bridges
crossing the deep abyss that's situated in my cranium,
set against a backdrop
of childhood fantasy...strangely hidden from view,
 
tunnels of the brain are not paved with gold,
just a state of suspended wonderment,
smooth flowing passages to protect me
from dangerous thoughts
that may swarm my imagination.
 
So! Charge me up with energy,
let me feel elevated;
all those elements that fill gaps
in the puzzle of life's achievements,
that explode onto paper, giving meaning
to creative power.

Not that I have listened to much Hawkwind but I do remember them being renowned for progrock/space rock/psychedelic rock. You have captured the essence of their music and much of its meaning here, Jenny. Hoping you are well. Paul x

Thanks for reading Paul. I've updated the title, as I wasn't sure if I could use a Hawkwind phrase. I also think the new title works better with the poem. 

Back in the 1970s I was a Hawkwind freak, we would follow the band all over the country. I think I'm regressing in my old age. wink

I had many hours of pleasure writing this poem, so I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. Thank you for letting me know.

There is no copyright on titles, and as Q,S and C is the title of both the album and a track on it, it might be a shame to change your own title, when there's no need.

Great album though. Been in my music library since release in 1977, Spirit of the Age is still one of my favourite songs. I've been known to murder it in Karaoke. [You should be grateful you've never suffered that!]

Wasn't Lemmy Kilmeister in Hawkwind at one point? Am I misremembering? Anyhow, nice poem. I liked it. My most sincere apologies, I have not been on the site in a couple of months. I just don't have time to do any writing, it seems, in the middle of a semester anymore. I have three new ideas for short stories swimming around my mind, so as soon as the semester is over, I will get on that. I just popped on today to do a little reading. Great poem.

Yes you are right Lemmy was in Hawkwind back in the early 1970s, used to love watching Space Ritual live, it was a real trippy experience every time I saw them. Glad you thought this poem was great, had a lot of fun writing whatever came to mind.

It is notable that you used the minimum punctuation and that with no capitals except for three words, in the beginning "Noiseless" and then right at the end "So! Charge". I wonder what the significance is.

Hi Nolan, there's no significance, just a happy accident. Sometimes I just like to go with where my mind takes me, hoping for the best it turns out right.

HI Jenny

I don't know Hawkwind's music at all, but your words remind me of a band called Nghtwish, which is both wierd nd wonderful at the same time.

HI Jean,

although Nightwish are nothing like Hawkwind, I think they make very special music. The band always reminds me of Evanescence who were very popular in their time. 

The poem did start out being influenced by Hawkwind, a trippy band from the early 70s that had Lemmy from Motorhead on vocals. I expect you remember Silver Machine, it actually got into the charts.
