Of a Piece
by MarciaMarcia
a finished piece of writing
is distanced from
its author’s heart
it’s architect’s mind
It's maker’s hand
quietly words rest
whole and tempered
weighted
with life-alluring breath
till the hour of release
likened to a tiny bird
beyond open windowed
wings spread a-flight
into a world it must survive
each line of shaded nuance
and rhythmic cadence prove
arrays of mitered colors
from its multi-structured hues
unfold myriad intimations
of the purpose and the meaning
their messaged gifts imbue
