A love letter is written by hand ink on paper. A little poem is a nice touch. A girl's stationary is light purple or shade of yellow a bit of perfume and a ribbon too or a lock of hair and with pink lipstick kisses. For a card made yourself is best, as is with anything else. Need not make excuses just tell her you like her, you love her.

Try not to start each sentence with “I” and don't tell her what you think of her mother. Never speak of any ex's. Ever. To forget her birthday is fatal.

Flowers are always a great idea, traditionally roses. The colour would depend on what you did wrong. Yellow is faithfulness, red being romantic love and white is peace. There are many colours. Valentine's is as good an excuse as any for holding hands and kissing.

Women like expensive jewellery they say diamonds are a girl's best friend. I like the other precious clear stones more, rubies, turquoise emerald sapphire and so on. And gold. Hushed whispers and panflute eating out in style in an expensive restaurant or a grand buffet breakfast.

Don't feel shy Napoleon himself wrote love letters to Josephine every day while making omelettes in the slaughter on the battlefields of Europe.
