Trees

Gnarled roots extending, gripping,
stabilising the soil
branches lifting,
spreading leaves to shade and shelter,
exchange gases, refreshing the atmosphere,
manufacture food for growing roots and branches,
and producing fruit abundant for ourselves and winter fauna:
strong trees, stability and length of life,
standing against the storm;
symbolic of a Protector trustworthy, friendly and powerful
but
can they speak?
– only to say
‘Do not worship me, I’m just a symbol –
worship my Designer,
it is he is truly strong, reliable and kind!’’
[IP: choose a tree and see where it takes you]

You express your feelings with awareness and appreciation.

Trees are the lungs of our planet and consequently very precious to us.
I really like the respect you show for them in your poem. It's what they deserve.

Are the photos yours? They are all such wonderful contrasts! Your poem is a great reminder of how busy trees are all the time, though they look so calm and magestic
