Dream Song

I sit here staring at the desert scene with the snow capped mountains and wonder where my true love has been.
She never comes to me, to spend some time together, tho before we were never far apart,
and it drives me wild, wild, wild.
I've sat here so long, and never noticed the girl sitting just feet away,
also staring at the desert scene with the snow capped mountains. Does she too long for the
touch of her true loves embrace, and does she feel the same,
as it drives me wild, wild, wild.
I ask the girl, who is also staring at the desert scene with the snow capped mountains, if we could hold hands
and wait together. I reach across the few feet and touch her outstretched hand. Together we will wait.
And when my one true love sees,
it will drive her wild, wild, wild.
Never a word is spoken as the girl and I hold hands, while we watch together the desert scene with the snow capped mountains.
Together we sit, holding hands, waiting, waiting. Someday my one true love will return, and when she does,
it will drive her wild, wild, wild.
As I hold the hand of the girl who also watches the the desert scene with the snow capped mountains,
it seems to me her touch is cold, tho my thoughts have no sense of comfort or not. My only thoughts are
of my one true love coming back to see our hands,
and it will drive her wild, wild, wild.
I look toward the girl, who's cold hand I hold, while staring at the desert scene with the snow capped mountains.
The silence is broken as I say to her, "we should put down roots together and span the gulf of time."
She nods as she understands and says, "It's so easy to do." And as for my one true love,
it will drive her wild, wild, wild.
As time has past, sitting here with the girl, holding hands, staring at the desert scene with the snow capped mountains,
it occurs to me the desert is not quite as clear, and the mountains hard to see. Love alone does not sustain me now.
My one true love will never come. I retreat, to await my fate, and as for my one true love,
it will never drive her wild, wild, wild.
I lie here in my silken bed, dark and cold, no longer staring at the desert scene with the snow capped mountains hard to see. The girl lies too in her silken bed, no more than feet away. Together we will spend our time. Eternity.
And I realize now, as my thoughts fade, that for my one true love,
it will never drive her wild, wild, wild.

Intriguing.
Yes, I came nack to your poem, and it has hooked my imagination; and that's no bad thing - thanks for this Ric.

Interesting poem. The format seems a bit strange to me but I really enjoyed the writing. You have some good lines in this.
It looks like you are new. Welcome to the site.
