Through Ice Flowers

Personal dreams float away with limited baggage:
wrappers of self, discards of transit between
home and reality mark passage on the roadside.
Their footprints and loose down melt into snow
with their names.
Numbers flock, fear-ruffled feathers, colour noted;
now a tether, to this land.
Fly away little birds, find warmer hearts
where all have worth, borders mean nought,
sing of the place when you find it.

The poignancy of this poem
The poignancy of this poem leaves the reader contemplating that last line..and if that better place exists...birds will sing about it.
