I shall be staying in tonight
Even though it’s the weekend
I shall sit in silence and switch off the light
And recall all the days with my friends
The walks in the hills of North Wales
The bonfire, the beer, and the crack
The days of young love and telling tales
As I haul the memories back
I shall be staying in tonight
Looking through old photographs
Every face has a light
Ignited by the laughs
The path that shapes the past
Is a river heading to sea
Time slowly went so fast
And all that’s left is me

That is a brilliant line - it's spot on! Congratulations on the well deserved golden cherries, and thank you for this poem

"Each face has a light"
"Every face has a light" One of my favourite lines amongst many in this clever piece tied up so nicely - even underlined, with the final comment.
Well done on the golden cherries too, Smokejack!

Reminiscing, sad, melancholic
Reminiscing, sad, melancholic wallowing in nostalgia while life is passes by. Our generation the Rock bands of the 80s the generation before it was Rock & Roll, Yesterday wasn't as great as it seems and tomorrow might not be as bad. Do you know “Glory Days” of Bruce Springsteen? It is exactly like your own story here. But I just wonder what this “crack” is?
Like Bob Dylan said “it's not dark yet, but it's getting there”.
See you keep well! Tom Brown

Yes it is very sombre
Yes it is very sombre Bob Dylan "Time out of mind" but brilliant as always. And thanks, I thought of "crackling" and not scking the devil's c*ck. No use everyone pretending things are ok.
See you then! Tom
