Shared Existence

The rustling of tree branches and trilling of bird songs are the catalyst for meditation. The reverence of nature cocoons me and I am aware of the precious balance of life it supports.
A butterfly flutters near the rhododendrons then moves on to partake in the sweet nectar of a sunflower drinking in the golden rays of morning sunlight.
Its stillness allows me to see the colorful pattern on its wings. The unique design rivals the art of masters.
The buzzing of a bee adds another strain to the garden's sweet music and I see a gold and black striped body, bumbling near the rose bushes. The bee’s steady, hovering movement, so different from the butterflies manic dance, is hypnotic and I watch as it takes it's time choosing a flower.
Not far from the bee, lingering near a patch of red petunias, a hummingbird beats it wings so rapidly they are invisible but its tiny body can be seen diving into the ruby pool of flowers.
These summer pollinators bless me with their presence and I rejoice in this ritual of shared existence.
My garden is truly theirs, for it would not survive without them.

What a wonderful piece of writing Penny. You capture the wonder and beauty of nature. I think if more people surrounded themselves with nature, they would find themselves so much calmer and at one with this beautiful planet earth.
Really enjoyed reading and thank you for sharing.
Jenny.

Lovely, Penny. I can see and hear the garden, and the way you weave the thoughts about balance and sharing makes this a really rich tapestry. Genuinely brightened up my afternoon!
