Once the sun

kisses

an edge of

horizon

new adventures

begin-

 

a raucous wind

stirs

the pot with a

 mix

of sound and

turmoil

 

lifts an eagle into

layers

of thermals allowing

her to fine

tune

sight &

enhance preying

skills.

The sight of an eagle soaring the thermals is so majestic and takes my breath away. Your poem describes just this perfectly Richard...breathtaking.

Thank you Jenny for such kind thoughts re my favourite bird. Years ago my wife, Esther and I, went to Sheffield Fields, Nova Scotia for an Eagle week-end. It was at the base of the Blomidon Hills nearby and scores of people wandered about with binoculars to eat at the food outlet, watch videos on Eagles and hope to see them in the sky above, then suddenly my wife and I spotted a dot of movement coming directly towards us - closer and closer until we shouted an eagle! Suddenly there were four more and the five of them, fully grown bald eagles as close as TEN FEET AWAY at full speed turned upwards and flew until they disappeared, then returned and put on a half hour show of dipping and diving and followed each showing us stunts and circles and dipping and diving all at full speed. It was an awesome experience. I was so taken in by that day I went home and wrote a Yourh Novel called An Eagle Soars. Sold a few E-BOOK copies online but it sits here on my desk in a files as I could not find a commercial publisher. Best Wishes to all!

just had to let you know that the Eagle is one of my favourite birds too, though I have to say I've never seen one soaring in the wild. It sounds like the most amazing experience to have had the opportunity to gaze at them in their habitat flying and soaring in a display of courage and trust in humans. I'm so glad also that they're a protected bird. Long live the eagle and may they prosper.

It's a shame you couldn't find a publisher for your book, but I bet you had a lot of fun writing it, the title: An Eagle Soars, is a great name too, it sums up everything about this bird.

I agree with you about not putting your email address on line. I'm a worrier and would hate for you to get spams or someone hacking you.

If you got pleasure from writing your book, then that's all that really matters.

Did you mean for the tallness of your poem to give a feeling of height? It made me think of climbing up. I am amazed how both you and Jenny can put yourselves and your readers  into the world of these fierce, powerful, graceful birds

I am the eagle I live in high country, Kentucky cathedrals that reach to the sky. And all those that see me, and all that believe in me, Share in the freedom I feel when I fly.

Do you like John Denver's music Richard? He died young was originally from Canada.
