70 years of caring, gracious smile,
unspoiled by riches, steady all the while
in faith when troubles, burdens, pressures pile,
to empathise, not ‘put-in' power for vile
despotic carelessness for human life,
but rather praying that the land be free of strife,
each person valued, safe, allowed an honest voice –
our queen respected, loved, we honour and rejoice!

I must say she is a remarkable woman, with dignity and all the attributes of royalty. Did you know as a young woman she toured South Africa in 1947 with her parents?

Thank you, Tom. I think I have some vague memories about that visit, but not sure. I don't know whether you saw the clip they videod of her 'taking tea' with Paddington Bear, but she showed lovely humour and happiness in it even at her age! We just heard in chapel about speeches she has made down the years about faithfulness, and asking prayer for her own faithfulness ot serving God and the people, and of love and forgiveness, both in our hearts and our imperfection, herself included of course, needing God's forgiveness.

I tried to show in this verse how some use their authority and power in such wrong ways with the reference to Putin ('Put-in' power), but I think that escaped notice!

I like the way you have contrasted the Queen's 70 years of kind, understanding and supportive service to Putin's despotic carelessness for human life. At this moment in history that is a very important and stark contrast, between humane service of a constitutional monarchy and the callous disregard for life from a despotic warlord! Good words!

Thank you! I didn't think anyone had noticed that intended contrast, but as you say the contrast has been shown up starkly at the present time. May foolish and cruel despotism be turned or prevented soon, and may we value our own relatively stable and peaceful situation! Rhiannon
