The Old and the Young

Her Daddy playing music
upon his violin
for older folk in Home of Care,
and some would hum or sing,
and recognise the tunes of old
of love, and fun, and praise,
and gently tap their feet and smile
remembering past days.
She sat upon a lady’s lap
for quite a while and then
she scampered, pirouetted round
to her Daddy’s latest tune.
Some weeks later meeting to
activities discuss,
‘Can we ask the dancing girl
again to visit us?!

What a lovely poem Rhiannon,
What a lovely poem Rhiannon, and the little girl sounds adorable. I think it's wonderful when younger people take the time out to entertain older folks. It sounds like a good time was had, and the music stirred so many memories for those in care.
Perfect poem and I enjoyed reading.
Jenny.

That is kind of your son to
That is kind of your son to play, must be much better than listening to recorded music, and his grandmother must feel very proud, telling everyone who he is? And your grand daughter must have liked feeling so important, too :0) As Jenny says, a lovely poem!

Hi Rhiiannon
Hi Rhiiannon
Lovely story. I could picture the scene very well. I played the organ for an old folks group for awhile, and they did so love to sing the old songs.
