The Maze

The Kruger Park is big. Really Big. Paul Kruger was a man with vision he established this wild reserve long ago. Once stumbling from a function a braai actually, that is grilling meat on the coals outside drinking a lot of beer nothing unusual. I couldn't find our rondawel in this camp in the Kruger Park, a rondawel a kind of round stone hut with a thatch roof.
The huts look all the same and if you've been drinking they all seem identical. And night time. A method of trial and error has to be applied and with repetition allowed felt like hours. Everyone in bed knocking on their door. I wonder I think your chances with the lotto are better. Nothing new for me.
These self catering huts are of course very high class with your luxuries and very popular among tourists. They've got everything in the camp, the shops and restaurants and all that with the bush and wild right up to the electric fence even a watering hole for game watching. It is true. This is unspoiled primeval bush.

I've been lost a few times since then once was in a mall it's like a maze in there it was terribly scary.
Another was at the sea in dune bushes where God had spared me. The first one I can remember vividly was in primary school.
Another was these weird tunnels behind the walkway across a chemist supermarket in a shopping mall all of it enclosed. There are brightly lit corridors a completely deserted maze and all of it the same.
A security guard said there were latrines there so I went in by a door. If you died in there they would only discover your body after even a week it's dead quiet. I don't know what this place is I don't have a clue.
It is a maze of corridors white rough plastered whitewashed walls many doors and the doors all look exactly the same all them. Eventually I tried a door the first one and what a relief back in the mall and it was actually the very same door I went in. Wonder what the chances are for that? I didn't even know there exists a place like that it must be underground or something. This was right at the start of the lock-downs.

You may say in these stories I was just lucky. I say no it's not luck. Can't be the odds are staggering.

Hi Tom,
Hi Tom,
I have a fear of being lost in a place I can't find my way out of. I remember the first time I went to our local hospital I got lost, there are so many floors and corridors that look all the same. It sounds daft when you tell people.
Also I got lost in Paris when I was in my teens, a lot of the streets all look the same, and I couldn't speak french, which I know sounds bad, but I'm ashamed to say English is the only language I know, and never had the chance to learn in school.
So I can understand how you must have felt. Perhaps your guardian angel was watching over you.
Jenny.

Memories of fears like these
Memories of fears like these stay fixed in the mind, don't they? And the relief when you find yourself back where you know. Maybe sometimes God is teaching gently to pray. He does seem to have helped many long before being aware of really praying.
Once we were in a little maze, and a friend was doing it seperately. In the centre there was a tower. We got to it, and were on top, looking down on his getting muddled and a bit wound up, and so we were able to shout down instructions to him! Rhiannon
