Alfred and Mrs Muggins’ son, and their little dog, who they had brought all the way with them so he wouldn’t be left at home on his own, were in the middle of their Magical Mystery Tour of Liverpool, having dropped Mrs Muggins off in the vicinity of the famous Passport Office (so that she would have a valid ‘Ticket To Ride’ to Turkey, when the long awaited, and often cancelled, holiday did actually come to fruition? (It had certainly been a Long and Winding Road so far!)
Alfred’s original rough plan, before today had been to drop Mrs Muggins off at her Appointment and perhaps drive to one of the exciting parks he had heard of. There was one called Sefton Park which he had seen on his internet phone map, which wasn’t too far away, on the South side of the city. He had thought little dog would perhaps appreciate a walk there, particularly as he hadn’t a clue where Strawberry Fields were, and the dog must be one of the few beings in England, or indeed the rest of the world, who was not a Beatles fan, particularly as he was less than three years old and had no idea who John Lennon or Paul McCartney were, and might even have thought, if he had heard the name called out, that Ringo was a fellow dog! (Please International Beatles fans, I know you take this group very seriously, as Alfred certainly does. Please Please do not take this too seriously. I mean no disrespect to Ringo. It’s Only A Northern Joke! Let It Be if you will!) But having only just found a parking spot there was no way they were going to leave it to search for a park, however famous it was, and risking not being able to find Mrs Muggins again.
Anyway for the moment Alfred and his wife’s son (and the dog) were free to discover the centre of Liverpoool for themselves. Alfred’s stress melted away and he found he could Act Naturally again. Mrs Muggins would ring (o!) them on her mobile phone when she was ready to meet up, but Alfred judged that, as their multistorey car park and the Passport Office were actually only a few blocks away from each other, it should be easy enough for them to meet up at some suitable spot, now that they were all free of the car! (Tank!)
